'82 Flicks A2 Art Print
This year, 20th Century Flicks celebrates its 40th birthday. Since 1982, this unassuming little video rental shop has been serving up home cinema to the people of Bristol, amassing a library of over 20,000 films and becoming a central part of the city's film scene as a result.
To mark the occassion they're hosting Forbidden Worlds Film Festival: taking over the mothballed Bristol IMAX to screen a plethora of cult '82 classics from Blade Runner to Basket Case. I was hugely honoured to be asked to create a piece of art celebrating both the shop's origins and one of the greatest years in cinema history.
- Giclée archival quality print on 310GSM Textured Fine Art Stock
- Hand embossed for authenticity
- Damage proof packaging
A couple of notes:
Yes, Mad Max 2 is technically a 1981 film but it had an '82 UK release and that's close enough for it to be included it as part of the festival and this piece
This piece was drawn, as usual, on MS Paint. A touch of gradient lighting was added later on Photoshop. For you purists, here is the the MS Paint only version:
Had a couple people celebrating their 40th this year, and they're both movie buffs. This was a perfect gift!
Great quality print, packaged super well, and arrived relatively quickly considering it had to travel across the Atlantic via courier pigeon.
Great print of some amazing 1982 movie characters
Love it :-)
Three of my favourite things - '80s movies, Jim's artwork and 20th Century Flicks - what more can you want - have it in my spare room and guests love finding all the hidden gems!
